"To be completely honest, drawing is what prevents me from stopping working artistically altogether. It's the shortest path between a half-finished, half-formulated idea and something material. It is in the speed and the accessibility that I can hope to capture things that never get to take place in my day-to-day studio work, with painting or similar techniques, where every idea is scrutinised very carefully and harshly, and is then either accepted or rejected.
For me, drawing has a permissiveness and must be allowed to have this quality. It is only there that I can be surprised by how entire worlds of themes can emerge, worlds which I never thought I was capable of expressing or formulating until they suddenly appear in front of me. It's magic."
